Here at Aktiv Bodz we've been selling sports, bodybuilding supplements since 1999 and value the importance of using certain supplements along side your diet, but we must repeat our selves again and say you must get your diet right before using any supplements, so we assume you're following a decent diet then these supplements below will be a great addition.
WHEY PROTEIN
Whey Protein is the cornerstone of almost all muscle building diets. As easy to use as its versatile, it can be used as a meal replacement or along side food to increase its protein value.
Whey is termed a complete protein meaning it provides all 24 dietary amino acids. It is naturally high in BCAA's as well as a host of health boosting bioactive compounds.
Whey is vital in the first steps to recovery following an intense workout.
MULTI-VITAMINS & MINERALS
Think of vitamins and minerals as the nuts and bolts of the body. Without adequate amounts of these micro nutrients the body would very quickly begin to breakdown and function at a sub optimal level, not what you want when trying to build muscle!
Multi vitamins and minerals play a part in a host of different roles within the body; from cellular signalling to synthesising hormones, anti oxidant support to digestive function. You name it, somewhere along the line vitamins and minerals are involved!
E.F.A's
Essential fatty acids, of E.F.A's for short are, as the name suggests, essential to human health. This means that E.F.A's cannot be produced by the body but instead have to be obtained from our diet.
E.F.A's are a great way of increasing calories in your diet without adding body fat. In fact providing you are strict with the rest of your diet, increased levels of E.F.A's will help you lose body fat!
E.F.A's will help to increase your strength, promote the growth of lean muscle whilst reducing recovery time.
CREATINE
Creatine is the most researched supplement on the market today. Although it is available in many different forms, they all serve the same purpose, namely to increase strength and power.
One way creatine works is contributing to the recycling of the energy sources of muscles (ATP) allowing a person to train harder, heavier and for longer.
Combined with a high protein diet and hard consistent training, creatine has been shown to accelerate muscle growth.
GLUTAMINE
The single most abundant amino acid in the body is glutamine, glutamine is vital in the recovery process from intense training. Research has demonstrated that stores of glutamine are severely depleted during a workout, and by replenishing these stores recovery is improved.
Another note worthy benefit of supplemental glutamine is its positive effect in enhancing immunity and improving digestive function.
BCAA's
Comprised of the amino acids leucine, isoleucine and valine, Branched Chained Amino Acids (BCAA) have been proven to reduce muscle wasting during periods of intense/extended exercise.
Critical around training time they can be used pre-workout to "prime" the muscle, intra-workout to minimise muscle catabolism and post-workout to kick start recovery.
CASEIN
Think of casein as a brother to whey, both are isolated from the residue left over in the manufacturing of cheese. Like whey, casein is a complete protein but where these respective proteins differ is their rate of absorption.
Where whey is absorbed rapidly, casein is absorbed much slower as it forms a gel in the stomach which gives digestive enzymes a much smaller surface area to work on.
Casein is ideal to use before bed or at other times where the regularity of food is extended.
NOX
Nitric Oxide products have a vasodilator effect in the body, meaning they cause the smooth muscle fibres of the circulatory system to relax and dilate (open up).
The advantages to vasodilation are improved blood flow, oxygen and nutrient delivery to muscles as well as the transportation of waste products away from the muscle.
Nitric Oxide also helps to stretch the myofacial tissue in and around the muscle.
BETA ALANINE
Beta Alanine acts as a lactic acid buffer. It binds with histamine to form carnosine which acts as a sponge to absorb hydrogen ions produced by working muscles.
By supplementing with Beta Alanine you can expect to train harder for longer.
TRIBULUS
Tribulus Terrestis is a herb and has been used for thousands of years as a male aphrodisiac. The active sapponin, protodioscin serves to boost testosterone to the upper natural levels of the user.
Higher levels of testosterone have been shown to improve the body's ability to utilise protein, thus build more muscle.
Users have reported that recovery is accelerated when using tribulus and that the body takes on a harder, leaner look. |
